Veterans post needs newhome
The American Legion Westland Post 251
is in need of a temporary building or home
the veterans could maintain including
minor repair work, if needed, painting,
maintenance of a parking lot and/or yard
work.
The group would also pay utility bills at
the home or building.
Anyone who may be able to help the vet-
erans group is asked to contact Post
Commander Bill Acton at (734) 776-5491.
Acton noted that the veterans are in
need of assistance in finding a location for
the post operations.
Teens to serve pancakes
The Northville High 2017-2018 boys and
girls basketball teams will host a "Meet the
Teams" Pancake Breakfast from 9 until 11
a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the high school
cafeteria.
Northville Parks and Recreation youth
basketball games will be staged in the main
gymthroughout themorning.
There will be a pancake eating chal-
lenge beginning at 10:30 a.m. open to all.
Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family.
This event is open to the community as a
kick off to the 2017-2018 season. The school
is located at 45700 West Six Mile Road in
Northville.
Christmas crafts at library
The Romulus Public Library will host a
Kids Christmas Craft event at 6:30 Dec. 5
and again Dec. 7. Children can make a
snowman ornament and magic reindeer
food. No sign-up is necessary, but space and
supplies are limited to the first 40 children
who signup eachnight.
Bothnightswill feature the same crafts.

Identity theft seminar set
An attorney from the office of Attorney
General Bill Schuette will discuss identity
theft at ameeting set for 11 a.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 6 hosted by City of Wayne Senior
Services.
Highlights of the presentation will
include identifying the signs of identity
theft and fraud, ways to protect personal
information online and off and what to do
in case of identity theft.

Shopping day celebrates city
Christmas in Plymouth shopping day is
planned for 5-9 p.m. Dec. 7 throughout
downtown Plymouth. There will be car-
riage rides, wagon rides, caroling, music
and a festive holiday atmosphere along
with plenty of special holiday sales at both
merchants and restaurants.
Santa and his live reindeer will appear,
alongwithhis elves.

Christmas at theCapitol planned
State Sen. David Knezek will host
Christmas at the Capitol for Inkster resi-
dents onFriday, Dec. 8.
Visitors will check in at the Booker T.
Dozier Recreation Complex at 8 a.m. and
the bus will depart for Lansing at 8:30 a.m.
Arrival back at Inkster is expected at about
4:30 p.m.
The trip is free and includes transporta-
tion by chartered bus, a personal tour of the
MichiganStateCapitol withKnezek, phono-
graphs on the Senate Floor, lunch and a t-
shirt.

Children'sworkshops planned
The Belleville Area Museum will offer
Children's Christmas Ornament Workshops
and photos with Santa at noon, 1:15 and
2:30 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 9 and again on
Saturday, Dec. 16.
Reservations are strongly encouraged
and required for groups. The cost is $2 per
child.

The Belleville Community Chorus, with
the Children's Chorus, will present a con-

exchange
The Plymouth Historical
Museum is offering free
admission on Dec. 2 in
exchange for one new,
unwrapped toy for the Toys
for Tots program. The Toys
for Tots program was
founded in 1947 by
reservist Major Bill
Hendricks. He had a mis-
sion to provide toys for
underprivileged children.
This mission has been ongoing for 70 years thanks to the Marine Corps Reserve
and donations from the public. There is a donation box located in the museum
lobby for all new and wrapped toys for families in need and that cannot afford to
purchase toys for their children. The Plymouth Historical Museum is located at
155 S. Main St. in Plymouth.
