Plymouth Ice Festival
Page 6
The 30th Annual Plymouth Ice
Festival will officially openwith formal
ceremonies on the main stage in
KelloggPark at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20.
The official cutting of the ice ribbon
will take place following some presen-
tations by the board of directors of the
festival and a visit from Super Grover
of SesameStreet Live!
Then, at about 7:30, the park begins
to rock when the Shawn Riley band
takes to the stage in concert. The band
has played together since 1998 and
includes Riley, one of themost popular
single acts headlining in clubs across
the state, performing lead vocal and
on rhythm guitar, Russell Klausing of
the Chairs playing rhythm guitar and
vocals, Jim Cracraft formerly of Alexis,
Rude Agnes and Four Toed Willy, on
bass guitar and vocals, and Alan Dante
formerly of Sunglasses After Dark, The
Autotones, and Sha-Na-Na, on drums.
Jerome Day, currently with Mitch
Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, former-
ly with Uncle Kracker, and the
Howling Diablos, joined the band in
2008. He has been the featured drum-
mer on recording sessions with Kid
Rock, as well as, the Howling Diablos,
also ondrums.
Like the band Spinal Tap, the band
rotates drummers dependent on the
event. Classic rock is the main influ-
ence on the band which plays top
songs from the 50s through today. The
band also mixes in a substantial blend
of Irish and Celtic music, as well as a
taste of blues, country and alternative.
The band is a perennial favorite at
community concerts, Northville 4th of
July Parade, the Woodward Dream
Cruise and a regular at Sean
O'Callaghan's indowntownPlymouth.
