Behind the Scenemeetings set
Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex
(PARC) will host "Behind the Scene" ses-
sions from6-7 p.m. every Thursday through
Nov. 1. These gatherings are meant to be
question and answer sessions where
regarding thePARCproject.
"Here is an opportunity for the
Plymouth Community to get information
regarding PARC first hand. I will be here
every Thursday to answer all your ques-
tions so no one will leave misinformed,"
saidDonSoenen, PARCboardpresident.
Sessions will take place in the PARC
Model Roomlocated on the first floor at the
facility, located at 650 Church St. in

PARC is a 501(c)3 public charity, leading
the effort to convert the historic Central
Middle School and the 16.6 acres on which
it stands, into an arts, education and recre-
ation complex serving the greater
Plymouth community.
Police host MovieNight
The Inkster Police Department will host
a free Movie Nights beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 21 in the parking lot of the
Inkster police Department, 26279 Michigan
Ave., Inkster.
Themovie to be shown is Trolls.
The movie will be shown outside so
guests should dress for the weather and
bring a chair or blanket onwhich to sit.
Citizens of all ages are welcome. In the
event of rain, the movie will be resched-
uled toOctober.
Vision and hearing testing offered
The Belleville Area Lions Club mem-
bers will provide Kidsight, free vision
screening testing from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Sept. 22 at the Belleville Area District
Library.
KidSight, a Lions Club community serv-
ice program, provides a simple, noninva-
sive and cost-free vision screening test per-
formed on young children. It requires no
medication or preparation and is painless,
a spokesmannoted.
Newborn hearing screening identifies
most children born with a hearing loss. But
in some cases, the hearing loss is caused by
things like infections, trauma, and damag-
ing noise levels, and the problem doesn't
emergeuntil later in childhood.
Also available will be representatives
from the Michigan Mason Child ID
Program distributing Child ID Kits that
contain all the vital information necessary
to expedite law enforcement efforts to
locate a missing child. The program also
helps to educate families about abduction
prevention and safety.
Parking for the free testing will be avail-
able at Belleville First United Methodist
ChurchonCharles Street.
The library is located at 167 Fourth St.

Theatre classes being offered
Inspire School of Theatre Arts is offer-
ing Taking the Stage Theatre Classes for
students ages 7-15 for 10 weeks, Sept. 22
throughDec. 8.
The cost for the 10-week program, divid-
ed into age categories, is $175.

Church hosts concert
The Paul Keller Orchestra, a 15-piece
big band, will play a concert at the First
United Methodist Church in Plymouth at 4
p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.
The Paul Keller Orchestra is one of the
finest, most-respected and well-traveled
jazz big bands in Michigan, a church
spokesperson noted. This concert is part of
the NOTEworthy "concerts with a cause"
series of First United Methodist Church.
Admission is free and a free-will offering
will be received to benefit the music min-

Infant massage classes offered
TheWestland Public Library will host a
free, five-week series of infant massage
classes from 6-7:30 p.m. beginning
Thursday, Sept. 27. The series will take
place at the library and is presented by a
certified infant massage educator in coop-
erationwithStarfishFamily Services.
The classes are designed for pre-crawl-
ing infants and their caregivers. Expectant
parents are welcome to join as well.
Parents will learn gentle and loving ways to
comfort, relieve gas, deepen sleep, and
stimulate braindevelopment in infants.

School bond vote is topic
Members of the Wayne Westland
Community Schools Board of Education
have authorized a bond question on the
Nov. 6General Electionballot.
Information about the necessity for the
bond and the improvements it will fund
will be discussed by members of the Bond
Advisory Committee at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at
theDyer Senior Center.
Themeetings are open to the public and
Dr. Shelley Holt, superintendent of schools
will present information about the propos-

The City of Romulus annual fall Free
City Wide Garage Yard Sales will take

Church hosts craft show, festival
St. John's Episcopal Church will host a
Fall Festival and Craft Show from 11 a.m.

The craft show will be open only until 4

and live entertainment from2-10 p.m.

Diabetes cookingworkshop set
A six-week cooking workshop includes
interactive sessions presented by trained
culinary and nutrition instructors. Hands-
on presentations demonstrate the link

Free groceries and cookbooks are
included to practice new skills at home.

Inkster hosts ‘Car-nival” Saturday
The Inkster Police Department will
co-host the first annual fuel-injected
Car-Nival, a car and motorcycle show
from 3-7 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 22.
This event is co-hosted and sponsored
by the Inkster Citizens Action
Network (ICAN), 315 north, F&R
Automotive, Frozen Momentz
Photography, and the Inkster Police
Department.
The event will take place on the
southwest corner of Inkster Road and
Michigan Avenue in the parking lot of
the Dollar General, 27425 Michigan
Ave. Early birds will receive a com-
memorative dash plaque when they
register a vehicle as well as free t-
shirts to the first 100 people in atten-
dance. The shirts are on a first-come,
first-serve basis.
Therewill be three trophies award-
ed for “Best in Show - Mayor's choice”,
“Coolest Hot Rod - Chief's Choice”,
“Coolest Custom - Kids Choice” and
“Best inShowMotorcycle”.
DJ Romeo will be there playing
classic car hits and food trucks will be
parked nearby with a variety of choic-
es.
