Used book sale planned
The Friends of the Romulus Library have
planned a usedbook sale next week.
From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sept. 17, 18 and
19, used books including hardcovers, large
and small paperbacks, children books, videos
and tapes will be for sale at bargain prices at
the library, 11121WayneRoad.
The group has scheduled a bargain bag
day from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22
when patrons can purchase a bag of items for
only $3.
All proceeds from the event will be used to
fund library programs.

Church seeing crafters
St. Theodore's Confraternity of Christian
Women is seeking crafters for a Fall Craft
Show planned from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Oct. 13
at the parish, 8200 Wayne Road in Westland.
There are 70 tables available for rental fee of
$25 each. No vendors are being accepted.

Scarecrows are sought
TheWayne Ripple Effect is sponsoring the
secondScarecrowMichiganAvenue Show.
The fee to enter is $20 which includes a
scarecrow frame. Entry forms are available
at the Wayne Community Center or the
WayneChamber of Commerce office.
Completed scarecrows will be installed
anddisplayed alongMichiganAvenueWest.
Completed scarecrows should be dropped
off at the StateWayneTheater by Sept. 29.

Seniors host bingo
The Wayne Golden Hour Club hosts bingo
on the second and fourth Thursday of each
month. The games are the primary source of
fund-raising for the group. Proceeds are used
to offset the cost of hosting holiday parties,
which are open to all seniors.
Doors open at 12:40 p.m. and bingo contin-
ues from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments are available
for purchase.
The upcoming dates are today, and again
Sept. 27, Oct. 11 and 25, Nov. 8 andDec. 13.

Car showandSwapMeet set
The 18th Annual Don Rochon Memorial
2012 Car show and SwapMeet will take place
from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the
Sumpter Township Fairgrounds on Sumpter
Road inBelleville.
Car showentry fee is $15 and close at 12:30
p.m. Awardswill be presented at 2:30 p.m.
Swapmeet exhibitor fee is $20 per 10 by 10
feet space.
There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle,
music, games and food.
Admission to the grandstand is $12 for
adults and $4 for children ages 3-12.
PENN-Taste-Tic event planned
The Plymouth Community Chamber of
Commerce, in a joint effort with the Friends
of the Penn, will host the Annual PENN-
Taste-Tic Downtown Plymouth Restaurant
Crawl from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
"Crawlers" can walk around downtown
Plymouth enjoying samples and treats from
many of their favorite Plymouth restaurants
and sweet shops. This year patrons have the
opportunity to try samples at five new estab-
lishments that opened in the past few
months.
This year's participants include: Burger
Spot; Cupcake Station; E.G. Nicks; Greek
Islands (new); Ironwood Grill; Kilwin's, KP
Sweets (new); Nico & Vali; Panache 447
(new); Panera; Perfectly Sweet (new); Rock

Ticketsmust be purchased in advance and
are available at the Plymouth Community
Chamber of Commerce, 850 W. Ann Arbor
Trail, and Sun & Snow 388 S. Main St. in
downtown Plymouth. Adult tickets are $20,
and children 10 or younger are $15. All pro-
ceeds to benefit the Friends of the Penn and
theChamber of Commerce.

Monarchmovie to be shown
The Monarch, a Butterfly Beyond Borders
will be shown at the 7 p.m. Sept. 19meeting of
the Southeast Michigan Butterfly Association
(SEMBA).
The presentation displays the Monarch's
various habitats and reveals what is still
unknown about the creatures.
The meeting takes place at Nankin Mills
Nature Center, 33175 Ann Arbor Trail,
Westland. Parking is available onHines Drive

There is a $3 admission charge for non

Food distribution Thursday
The next distribution of emergency food
by Plymouth Community United Way is
scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20
at St. KennethCatholicChurch inPlymouth.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program
provides low-income Plymouth and
Northville residents with canned and non-
perishable items.
All recipients must be pre-registered. This
is a supplemental food program that may be
used in addition to other assistance pro-
grams. Bridge Card holders automatically
qualify, but need to pre-register. Recipients
not currently on governmental assistance
(food stamps, ADC and general) must provide
documentation including proof of income
and residency before receiving food on distri-
butiondays.

Victorian applications available
The Northville Victorian Festival will
return for the 24th year Sept. 21-23 through-
out the downtown area.
Registration for non-profit groups and
crafters who want to the part of the festival
are now being accepted. The festival is spon-
sored by the Northville Chamber of
Commerce and includes a parade, entertain-
ment, food, history and a craftmarket.
Non-profit groups including school clubs,
scouts, churches, service organizations and
others can now apply for booths to sell food
and merchandise as fundraisers or host
games. Booth rental is $100 for the entire
weekend. Hours will be 5-8 p.m. Sept. 21, 11
a.m. until 8 p.m. Sept. 22 and noon until 4 p.m.
Sept. 23.
Crafters can join the craft market on
Saturday andSunday.
Craft booth rental is $130 with an addition-
al $10 jury fee.

AClothes Give Away will take place from9
a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at Middlebelt Baptist
Church in Inkster.
There will be clothing for all ages and for
men, women and children.

Memorial run planned
The 4thAnnual FreddieHarrisMemorial
2KWalk/5KRoad Race for Brain Aneurysm
Awareness will take place Sept. 15 at
HorizonPark inBelleville.
The walk will take place rain or shine,
organizers said and will also include a raf-
fle.
All proceeds will benefit the Brain
AneurysmFoundation.
