Civitans group helps fund are Focus
Hope food boxes, Step Up for Downs
Walk, food for the Salvation Army
Thanksgiving baskets, holiday gifts for
children in foster care, Special Olympics
Bowling, essay contest awards, the
Salvation Army School Blitz, shoes for
underprivileged children in a Kentucky
mining town, andmany others, including
two summer camps for special needs
teens and adults and a Youth
Leadership andDiversity Conference.
Turnquist noted that it is sometimes
difficult to believe all that the club of 28
members accomplishes in a year, espe-
cially, she said, as “most of us are
retirees.”
Station 885 is located in Old Village of
Plymouth at 885 Starkweather. There is
plenty of free parking available.
Tickets to the Taste Fest for children
younger than 10 are priced at $5.

Yappy Hour planned on Saturday
Bark For Life is planning a social
gathering for dog owners and their
dogs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sept. 7
during thePlymouthFall Festival.
The event will take place in the
parking lot located behind E.G.
Nick's restaurant on Forest Street.
Easy access into the parking lot will
be off Harvey Street, noted organiz-
er Jill AndraYoung.
The event is a fundraiser for the
American Cancer Society and will
feature 12 vendors, a 50/50 raffle,
guess jars and a magician. E.G.
Nick's will be providing food service
from the restaurant kitchen during
the event.
“This will be a fun event for
everyone who loves pets,” Young
said. “I hope we have a nice crowd
because it's a great cause. Dogs can
bring their owners or vice versa,”
she added.
Vendors will include cookie Lee
Jewelry, Three Dog Bakery, Three
Dogz LLX, Trust & Obey, Pawsitive
Dog Training, Fleece Dog Coats and
Beds, Pawsitive Pet Massage and
ConciergeLLC, MichePurses, Salon
Awesome, Gem, Greyhounds of
