and grows every year. Last year I think
we hadmore than 300 people.”
Costanza added that thanks should
also go to the major sponsor of the event
this year, U.S. Foods, along with the work
of Baldwin and the supplies from
Christensen's. “We had more than $1,700
in donations from U.S. Foods, Bell &
Sons Restaurant Supply and Gordon
Food Service,” he said. “People just
knowwhat a good cause this is.”
The event is the largest fundraiser for
the Civitans, a non-profit civic group ded-
icated to serving the developmentally
disabled and others in the community.
The group has been active in Plymouth
for more than 40 years, explained Kathy
Turnquist, a long-timemember and chief
organizer of theTasteFest event.
Turnquist said that while most of the
funds stay in the community, the local
group does send funds to the Civitan
International to help fund the Civitan
International Research Center, involved
in research and clinical activities associ-
ated with developmental disability. The
Civitans fund more than 300 scientists,
faculty, clinicians and staff working to
solve the causes and effects of develop-
mental disabilities.
