Senior fitness classes offered
The Plymouth Community Council on
Aging offers Senior Fitness Classes for
those 55 and older. Classes offered
include: Cardio Drumming, 9:30-10:30
Monday and 12:30-1:30 Tuesday; Zumba
Gold, Monday, 11:30-12:30 Monday; Chair
Tai Chi, 11:30-12:15 Tuesday; Cardio
Fitness, 9:30-10:30 Wednesday and Chair
Yoga, 10:30-11:15Wednesday.
Classes are drop-in and no member-
ship required. All instructors are certi-
fied.
The classes take place at the
Friendship Station, 43275 Schoolcraft
Road, Plymouth.

$25,000 raffle under way
Tickets for the second annual
Northville Educational Foundation
$25,000 Cash For College Raffle are now
available.
Tickets are priced at $50 each, or three
for $100. Proceeds from the raffle benefit
the Northville Educational Foundation
and the 7,300 students in the district. If
ticket sales total less than $50,000, the
prize will revert to a 50/50 drawing with a
minimumof a $1000 prize.
The drawing will take place at about
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at downtown the
Northville Tree Lighting Ceremony in the
town square just after the Holiday
Lighted Parade. Ticket holders need not
be present towin.
Tickets will be sold until the start of the
paradeNov. 17, or until all 1500 tickets are
sold, whichever comes first. Purchasers
must be 18 or older.

Maybury cornmaze is open
The annual corn maze is now open at
Maybury Farm in Northville. The maze is
10-acres of corn cut into a farm scene to
challenge adults and children. The maze
takes about an hour and a half to com-
plete. Those who find all 10 checkpoints
can enter to win a grand prize awarded at
the end of the season. Following the chal-
lenge of the corn maze, visitors can enjoy
cider and donuts from Parmenter's, along
with other tasty treats. TheMaybury Farm
Corn Maze is open from 5-10 p.m. Fridays,
from noon until 10 p.m. Saturdays and
from noon until 7 p.m. on Sundays.The
last wagon leaves for the maze one hour
prior to close.
The Corn Maze will be open through
Oct. 29. Admission to the Maybury Farm
Corn Maze is $7 per person and includes
farm admission and a wagon ride to and
from the maze. Free admission is offered
to children ages 2 and younger.
Maybury Farm is operated by the
Northville Community Foundation; the
funds raised from the corn maze are used
to help support the work of the farm, and
their mission of connecting the communi-
ty to animals and agriculture through
hands-on experiences that are both
engaging and educational.

Parade entries sought
Entries for theWinter Fest ParadeDec.
2 are now being accepted at the Belleville
AreaChamber of Commerce, 248MainSt.,
Belleville, 48111.
Rules for parade entries require that
the vehicle must be decorated with work-
ing lights. Vehicles with headlights that
remain should cover them during partici-
pation as headlights distract other partici-
pants and judges. Music, however, is wel-
come.

Candy donations sought
Downtown Belleville will once again
be hosting a Trick or Treat event from 5-7
pmonTuesday, Oct. 31.
Individuals or merchants who would
like to participate in this great family
event via the Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce can do so by providing a bag of
candy which will be passed out to all the
ghosts and goblins. Last year, volunteers
distributed out candy to approximately
1,000 childrenduring the event.
Those who provide a candy donation
and all sponsors will be listed on an
insert with all candy passed out that
evening.
Drop off all wrapped candy at the
Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce by
Monday, Oct. 23 so that bags of treats can
be assembled for distributiononOct. 31.

Goodfellows serve pancakes
Inkster Goodfellows will serve an all-
you-can-eat pancake breakfast from7 a.m.
until noonSaturday, Oct. 21.
Themeals will be served at the Booker
Dozier Recreation Center, 2025
Middlebelt Road in Inkster.
The cost is $10 per person and all pro-
ceeds will benefit the Goodfellows No
ChildWithout aChristmas campaign.
City offers Runner'sCross Training
The City of Plymouth Recreation
Department announces a six-week
Runner's Cross Training course presented
by Mercy Elite Sports Performance from
7:15 until 8 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Oct.
18 through Nov. 22 at the Plymouth
Cultural Center.
Novice runners and elite athletes will
benefit from this class, organizers said.
Runners will receive expert training from
a certified Mercy Elite Sports Physical
Therapist/Athletic Trainer specializing in
athletes.
This class is designed to reduce
injuries, increase speed, improve form,
manage the grind of training runs,
improve mechanics and endurance and
identify proper training levels and
approaches. This class is open to partici-
pants ages 13 and up. Cost is $100 for City
of Plymouth residents and $115 for non-
residents.

GuidingHarbor fundraiser set
A Life Expressions Make and Take
Sign fundraiser for Guiding Harbor is
planned for 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Holiday Inn
Express inBelleville.
Participants will make homemade
wooden signs with vinyl saying during the
event. For $25, attendees will make a 4-
inch by 24-inch sign with an inspirational
saying. Signs are discounted if painters
make more than one. A consultant will
bring the needed supplies and sayings.

Mom toMomsale set
St. Edith and St. Colette MOPS
(Mothers of Pre Schoolers) will host a
Mom to Mom Sale from 8:30 a.m. until
noon Saturday, Oct. 21 at St. EdithChurch,
15089NewburghRoad inLivonia.
There will be 74 tables of deals on gen-
tly used maternity, baby and children's
items. Admission is $2. Strollers are wel-
come.

Anti-bullying is topic
Cheryl Jones, LMSW, the founder of
LifeCycle Family Counseling, Inc., will
speak about anti-bullying at JORY
Children's Foundation seminar from 7-9
p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Romulus High
School Auditorium.
This event is free and open to the pub-
lic but audiences should be at least 7th
graders due to subject matter. Jones will
offer parents and students strategies to
deal with the effects of bullying and signs
towatch for self-destructive behavior.
The seminar is sponsored by the
Romulus Fire Department, Romulus
PoliceDepartment, SkatelandFamilyFun
Center, and Wayne County Community
CollegeDistrict- TedScott Campus.

An Information Forum organized by
The Inkster Task Force, top Ladies of
Distinction, Michigan Metro Chapter and
the Inkster Commission on Aging is set for
11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26

The Commission on Aging and the
