Firefighters open 'Pumpkin Patch'
Plymouth Township firefighters fromLocal 1496 are selling pumpkins to generate
funds for their local charity. Each year the firefighters work with charities like the
SalvationArmy and local schools to pinpoint area families in need. One hundred per-
cent of the proceeds are for charity.
The pumpkin sale will continue through Halloween. Pumpkin Patches are set up
at Fire Station 1, located at 9911 N. Haggery Road and Fire Station 3 at 13600 Beck
Road in Plymouth. Firefighters ask visitors to park in the rear of Station 3 and in
TownshipHall lot behindFireStation 1.
HauntedMain Street opens
Halloween has arrived at the PlymouthHistorical Museumwith its new “Haunted
Main Street” special exhibit. The exhibit is a combination of newHalloween decora-
tions combined with vintage Halloween collectibles. It is designed to frighten and
delight all ages. Some of the vintage items, loaned by collectors, include a small col-
lection of antique Halloween candy dishes and Jack o' lanterns, an assortment of vin-
tage postcards aswell as some vintagemourning items.
The Plymouth Historical Museum is open from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students 6-18. “Haunted
MainStreet”will continue throughOct. 29.

It HappenedOne Fright on stage
Inspire Theatre will open the 13th season with It Happened One Fright, a
HalloweenMusical Comedy on stageweekends fromOct. 20 throughNov. 5.
Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on

Monster Mutt Walk planned
A costumed Monster Mutt Walk is planned for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in down-
townBelleville.
The event is being organizedby theBellevilleCentral Business community inpart-
nershipwithFriends ofMichiganAnimalsRescue.
Registration will begin at 1 p.m. on Fourth Street next to the Belleville Area
Museum. The fee to enter a dog is $10 plus a can of dog food. Spectators are welcome
anddo not need four-footed friends to attend.

Thriller concert presented
Musicians from the Michigan Philharmonic are planning some classical
Halloween fun when they present “Philharmonic Thriller” at the Plymouth Arts and
RecreationComplex (PARC).
Scary classics meet scary film scores along with some thriller fun. Audiences are
urged to wear Halloween costumes when the musicians, also in costumes, present
their latest concert set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
Families can arrive as early as 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a PARC Halloween with spooky
trick or treating, face-painting and otherHalloween funprior to the concert.
Tickets are $30, seniors tickets are $25, student admission is $10 and those younger
than 5 are admitted at no cost. The facility is located at 650 Church St. in downtown
Plymouth.

Trick or Treat Trail opens
Northville Parks and Recreation has opened the Trick or Treat Trail at the
Recreation Center in the Hillside gymnasium. Children from pre-school to the third-
grade should wear their costumes and bring a treat bag from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct.
21.
The cost is $8 per child and when registering, parents should select a 30-minute
time frame for their child. No on-site registrationwill be available.

Pumpkin Palooza planned
The Seventh Annual Pumpkin Palooza will take place throughout downtown
Plymouth fromnoonuntil 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22.
Pumpkin Palooza is a safe and fun Halloween celebration with games, costume
contests, dancing, petting zoo and candy, organized by the Plymouth Chamber of
Commerce.

Pet CostumeContest set
The City of Plymouth Recreation Department has organized hold the 9th Annual
Pet Costume Contest from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 in conjunction with
PumpkinPalooza inKelloggPark.
Entry is free and prizes will be given to first, second and third place winners.
Event bagswill be distributed to the first 50 participants.

Little superheroes, fairy princesses, and other ghouls and goblins are invited to
Canton Leisure Services annual Trick or Treat Parade from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
inside theSummit on thePark, located at 46000 Summit Pkwy, inCanton.
For thosewho dare, a spookyHauntedHousewill be available in the Summit gym-
nasium, that is scarier than ever. This interactive experience may be too intense for
small children.
Tickets will only be sold in advance of the event until Oct. 26 and are priced at $5
per child for Summit on the ParkMembers and $6 per
child for Canton residents. Non-resident tickets
will be available for $10 per child. All ticket
sales will end Oct. 26. Kids of all ages must have a tick-

The Northville Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Northville Central
Business Association andNorthvilleDowntownDevelopment Authority to present an
event that features downtownNorthville businesses.
Children and parents are invited to participate in the Kids' Costume Parade and
Streets of Treats beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The parade will start at the
Northville Community Center, 303 W. Main St. Following the parade, trick or treating

The Canton Historical Society will host the annual evening of ghost stories pre-
sentedby 35thDistrict Court JudgeRonaldLowe from6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Lowe will tell the stories at the Cady-Boyer Barn, located in Preservation Park at
500NorthRidgeRoad.
Lowe will tell stories of ghosts, goblins, and all things spooky and will take visitors
on an adventure with tales of fright, twists and turns, and things that go bump in the
night. An evening of spine-tingling tales awaits those brave enough to attend. Watch
for fright levels to intensify in each story as the night progresses. Cider and two

GhostsCemeteryWalk set
The second Plymouth Ghosts Cemetery Walk will take place from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 28
at RiversideCemetery, 660PlymouthRoad inPlymouth.
The Friends of the Plymouth Historical Museumwill host the second of two ghost
walks. Visitors can meet some of the ghosts who have walked the streets of Plymouth
in the past. The event is designed to be educational, not scary, and the museum staff
takes precautions to be respectful of the cemetery.

The annual downtown Trick
or Treating event in Belleville

Police Chief Hal Berriman said

travel in a counter-clockwise way
throughout the downtown. A tape is
strung along theMain Street curbs to pre-
vent children from darting into the street
and there is a large police presence, includ-
ing reserve officers.
Schools host Trunk or Treat
The Van Buren Public Schools Trunk or Treat will
take place from 4:30 until 6:30 Oct. 31 at Owen Intermediate
School, 45201 Owen St. this is a family event for students
and families of theVanBurenPublic Schools.
There will be candy, food for purchase, music and
face painting.
