Victorian clothing sale set
The Northville Historical Society will
sponsor the annual Victorian Festival
Clothing Sale from1-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6,
from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 and
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at
Mill Race Historical Village, 215 Griswold
Ave., north of Main Street in downtown
Northville.
Victorian era clothing and accessories for
adults and children will be available.
Vendors have new, gently used and vintage
clothing for sale.
Admission to the sale is $2 for adults. Cash
sales are preferred as some vendors do not
accept checks or credit cards.

Grief workshop planned
Ward Presbyterian Church is sponsoring
an eight-week grief workshop, From Grief to
New Hope, beginning Sept. 10. This free
workshop is open to anyone who is grieving
after the death of a loved one andwill be pre-
sented by Cathy Clough, founder/executive
director of New Hope Center for Grief
Support.
Each session will begin with a presenta-
tion about one aspect of grief followed by
small group participation led by trained
facilitators.
Attendees will be placed in groups with
others who have had similar losses. The
workshop will meet from 7-8:45 p.m. eight
consecutive Mondays at Ward Church locat-
ed at Six Mile and Haggerty roads in
Northville.

Vehicle show, block party set
The Wayneland Eagle Riders will host a
Car andBike Showand block Party from2-10
p.m. Sept. 15 at theEagles club, 35850Earl St.
inWayne.
There is an entry fee for both cars and
motorcycles of $15 before Sept. 10 and $20
the day of the event. Votes will be counted
and trophies awarded at 7 p.m. Early regis-
tration is encouraged, a spokesman said.
The block party will include entertain-
ment for all ages.
All proceeds will benefit the Rainbow
Connection, a charity which fulfills the spe-
cial wished of Michigan children 2 ½ to 18
years of age with life-threatening medical
conditions.

Belleville alumni tomeet
Belleville High School Class of 1992 20-
year reunion will take place from 7-11 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 15 at Emagine Theater-Star

is $50 per person before June 1 and $55 per
person after that date.

Painting with acrylic classes will be
offered at the Plymouth Community Arts
Council from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

bers and $75 for nonmembers.
The arts council is also sponsoring drop-in

Chamber hosts luncheon speaker
Randy Perteet, business development
specialist, U. S. Postal Service will be the
guest speaker at the Greater Romulus
Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon
on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Clarion Hotel,
8600Merriman, Romulus.
The cost of the luncheon is $15 mem-
bers/$18 nonmembers. Registration starts at
11:30 a.m. and lunch is served at noon.

Annual CemeteryWalk planned
Costumed citizens of the past will share
the stories of their lives and the times in
which they lived from their gravestones in
historic Oakwood Cemetery during the
Annual Cemetery Walk hosted by the
NorthvilleHistorical Society planned from3-
6 p.m. Sept. 16.
The theme of the walk this year, A Stroll
Down Dunlap Street, will include all new
characterswith a focus on thosewho lived on
Dunlap Street. Refreshments will be served
in the Northville Art House following the
walk.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults if
purchased in advance or $15 the day of the
tour.

"FunRaising" Golf Outing set
The Wayne Chamber of Commerce and
the Wayne Department of Parks and
Recreation are sponsoring a Fun Raising
Golf Outing beginning with a shotgun start at
8 a.m. Sept. 20 at Fellow's Creek Golf Course
inCanton.
The chamber is partnering with the
Wayne Parks and Recreation Department,
the Recreation Foundation and the
Recreation Advisory Board to generate
funds for community projects.
The 2012 Fun Raising Golf Outing will
include an 18-hole scramble with cart, lunch
and prizes. The fee is $75 per golfer and
lunch will be served at the Wayne
Community Center at 1 p.m. the golf course is
located at 2936 Lotz Road in Canton
Township.

Josh Gracin to perform in Westland
Josh Gracin, the former American Idol
contestant, will be returning home to
headline the 2nd Annual Blues, Brews
andBarbeque inWestland.
Gracin, born and raised in the city, will
entertain at the event, planned for Sept.
15 and 16.
This event will be two days of bar-
beque, a car show full of hotrods from
across southeast Michigan, handcrafted
beers and music, including two hours of
Gracin. This will be Gracin's first perform-
ance in Westland since his American Idol
days.
Gracin, a John Glenn graduate, first
gained public attention on season two of
American Idol when he came in fourth
place, all while serving in the Marine
Corps. Gracin's first album released in
2004 received gold status and had a num-
ber one hit and two other top five singles.
In 2008, his second album was released
with more chart topping hits and his
newest album Redemption was released
at the end of 2011.
“Josh Gracin is a real country music
star and he will add a nice twist to the
great line-up of blues bands we have
scheduled,” said Westland Mayor William
Wild. “Gracin's Westland fans have been
eagerly awaiting his return.”
The event will also include several of
the area's most popular blues bands
including Sweet Willie Tea, Monsieur
Guillaume and his ZydecoHepcats, Jones'
and returning bands fromlast year includ-
ing The Alligators, Front Street Blues
Band andTheBoaConstrictors.
