ment, food, history and a craftmarket.
Non-profit groups including school clubs,
scouts, churches, service organizations and
others can now apply for booths to sell food
and merchandise as fundraisers or host
games. Booth rental is $100 for the entire
weekend. Hours will be 5-8 p.m. Sept. 21, 111
a.m. until 8 p.m. Sept. 22 and noon until 4
p.m. Sept. 23.
Crafters can join the craft market on
Saturday and Sunday. Craft booth rental is
$130withan additional $10 jury fee.

Grief seminar scheduled
Ward Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a
one day grief seminar, From Grief to New
Hope from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday,
July 28 inRoomC-319 atWardChurch.
This workshop will be presented by Cathy
Clough, founder/executive director of New
HopeCenter for Grief Support and co-author
of Grieving Forward: DeathHappened, Now
What? All adults who are learning to cope
after the death of a loved one are encour-
aged to attend. There is no charge for the
seminar.

WildWest at themuseum
Children can experience aspects of the
Wild West at the Plymouth Historical
Museum during the second annual History
Kids Kamp from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.
Children are encouraged to wear their cow-
boy/girl duds as they will get their pictures
taken to put in a western-style frame. Annie
Oakley and her partner Frank Butler will
talk about their exploits, and snacks will be
served from a real period chuck wagon.
There will be a scavenger hunt to entertain
and educate while they search for clues to
solve a puzzle. Children will play games and
participate in races, will be branded (fake
tattoo), and can shoot aRedRyder BBGun in
our safe shooting gallery. Every child will be
given a commemorative badge to wear for
the day and a bandana.
The event is part of the Plymouth
HistoricalMuseumexhibit "Inaugural Gowns
of the First Ladies," highlighting the inaugu-
ral gowns of 14 presidential first ladies.
Tickets purchased by July 20 are $25 per
child; after that date tickets are $30; alterna-
tively, the purchase of a new or renewed
Daisy membership to the Plymouth
Historical Museum (value $50) will allow two
children to attend for free. The target age for
children is 6 to 12 years old; however, chil-
dren under 6will need to be accompanied by

VacationBible Schools begin
St. Michael Lutheran Church and School
in Wayne will host Vacation Bible School
from 5-8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 through Aug. 9 at the
church, 3003HannanRoad inWayne.

Road in Belleville will also have a Vacation
Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 6
through 10.

Community Art Showplanned
The Belleville Area Council for the Arts is
presenting the third annual Community Art
show fromnoon until 8 p.m. Aug. 10 and from
10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Aug. 11 at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church, 409 West Columbia in
Belleville.
There is no admission charge for the show
and artists from any medium and of any age
are welcome to submit works. There is a $10
entry fee and the top three winners in all
three age categories (6-12 13-17 and 18 and
older) will receive prizes of $300, $200 and
$100 respectively. The work will be judged
professionally and artists can sell the entries
during the exhibit. There will also be a view-
ers' choice award presented to one of the
artists.
A food court will also be available all day,
both days of the event. Entry forms and infor-

Chamber hosts golfers
The Greater Romulus Chamber of
Commerce will host the Annual Golf Outing
on Thursday, Aug. 16 at Gateway Golf Course,
located inRomulus.
Early bird paid registration is $110 per
golfer which must be complete by July 19.
After that date, the cost is $120 per person.
The fee includes a continental breakfast,
lunch at the turn and a banquet dinner with
awards. Sponsorships are available. For

Artist Carolus-Duran had the right
idea.
His masterwork, The Merrymakers,
now on exhibit in Canton, has inspired
Canton Leisure Services to organize a
family picnic night at the Heritage Park
Amphitheater from6:30 until 9 p.m. Aug. 2.
The event will mark the final free
Thursday Night Concert series and the
featured entertainerswill beTrilogy.
Families are encouraged to come eat,
drink, and be merry, just like the family
featured in the masterwork currently on
display as part of the Detroit Institute of
Arts Inside Out program. All who attend
are invited to enter special drawings
throughout the evening for a dozen prizes,
a spokesperson said, including DIA pass-
es, Canton Leisure Services gift cards, tee-
shirts, and picnic/summer-themed prize
packs.
Cruisin' Custom Coneys will also be
onsite with dining options for those who
don't want to pack a picnic. Heritage Park
is located at 1150 S. CantonCenterRoad.
Other DIA replicas are on display near
the Summit on the Park, Canton
Administration Building and Canton
PublicLibrary.
DIA Inside|Out, an outreach project
which places replicas of some of the
Detroit Institute of Arts' most famous
works in unique settings, is sponsored by
the John S. and James L. Knight
Foundation for the purpose of weaving the
arts into the fabric of communities to
inspire visitors of these locations. Canton
is among 13 communities that have been
chosen for 2012 summer exhibitions.
