HEARING OFFICER'S FINDINGS

A public hearing was conducted on the above hearing dates in accordance with City Ordinance 1472 relative to the City of Wayne's request to declare the subject property a dangerous building and order such alterations, repairs or rehabilitations or in the alternative the demolition and removal of dangerous building located on the subject property.

Hearing was conducted on the above mentioned dates. The interested parties attended two of reconvened hearing dates only. No written or oral objection to the City's inspection. Results were presented to the Hearing Officer during the hearing. Neither the owner/inter-ested parties nor a mortgage company representative was in attendance at the reconvened hearing conducted on March 16, 2011 or June 15, 2011.

Testimony having been presented by Keith Montresor, the Building Inspector for the City of Wayne, wherein they testified that the following violations existed at the subject proper-ty:

VIOLATION NOTICE:

1. Structurally unsound roof and deck supports and columns north building. 2. Structurally unsound and settling addition rear of west building. 3. Broken window and doors boarded over by the City of Wayne. 4. Parking lot asphalt failure 5. Catch basins settling and failure.

6. Gas and electric turned off. Water off as of January 2010

7. All units uninhabitable without complete rehabilitation per inspection reports dated.

8. Complete rehabilitation of all plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment for all units required.

9. Exterior paint failure

10. Ordinance 1472, Section 2, Subsections a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, I, k

After personal inspections of the exterior and interior of the subject property by the Hearing Officer, the Hearing Officer concurs with the above findings of the building offi-cial as well as makes his own observations that additional violations exists as follows:

EXTERIOR:

1. Property overgrown 2. Parking lot general disrepair 3. Peeling paint on building

4. Peeling paint and rust on metal stairway and balcony 5. Integrity of stairway and balcony needs to be verified 6. Hole in exterior walls.

7. Exterior Boiler rooms appear to have structural deficiencies, hot water heaters and boilers safety questionable (disrepair)

INTERIOR:

1. No working smoke detectors

2. Most rooms were in disrepair and littered 3. Falling paint and plaster

4. Mold present in most units especially falt roof units 5. Missing fixtures (Lights, electrical, plumbing) 6. Uncapped gas lines 7. Holes in drywall

8. Numerous rooms showed signs of water seepage in ceilings and walls.

ORDER

This matter having come on for hearing and the above findings being presented;

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that all buildings (and accessory structures) located at 3444-3502 Winifred, Wayne, Michigan are dangerous buildings.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the findings of the City Engineer are hereby sus-tained;

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that should the owner/interested person(s) fail to com-ply with this Order, the City of Wayne is ordered to correct the violation by demolition and charge to the owner/interested person(s) its cost in accordance with City Ordinances.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a hearing shall be conducted before the City of Wayne's Appeal Board on August 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., (the third Monday of the month following the expiration of 30 days from the date of this Order), which will be at City Hall, 3355 S. Wayne Road, Wayne, Michigan 48184, for the purpose of affirming the action herein. You may attend and show cause why this Order should not be affirmed by the Appeal Board as the final order regarding the demolition of the property noted herein.

THIS NOTICE OF FINDINGS AND ORDER IS FINAL. THE HEARING OFFICER HAS NO AUTHORITY TO REVERSE HIS DECISION, TO GRANT AN EXTEN-SION OF TIME, OR TO ENTERTAIN A REQUEST TO REOPEN THE HEARING OR TO GRANT ANY OTHER REQUEST OF THE OWNER OR THE OWNER'S AGENT.

The Wayne Police Officers Association golf outing is back. This year, for their “almost 10th Annual Golf Outing” the members of the police union have planned the charity event at the Taylor MeadowsGolf Course.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and players will take to the course with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Aug. 5. Cost for the event is $95 per golfer, notedOfc. TerryWebb. “We've skipped a couple of years because of the economy,” he said. “But this is such a good cause, we thought we'd bring it back. Anything we make all goes back into the community. We donate the money to several causes during the year.”

Included in the admission is

curbside bag pick up when players arrive, a personalized bag tag, cart tag and player information package and a continental breakfast at the time of registration. Players will each receive six food and drink tickets, lunch at the turn and admission to the dinner.

Police golf outing returns this year

Inkster officer injured

A veteran Inkster police officer has been upgraded to fair condition at a local hospital after he was injured chasing two suspects Monday.

According to reports of the inci-dent, Anthony Abdallah, a 22-year veteran officer, was pursuing the pair of suspects in a breaking and entering just before 11 a.m. Monday when he fell in a wooded area and injured his leg. Apparently, when he fell, his leg was impaled on a sharp tree branch, first reports indicated. Police reports indicate that when the officer fell, he activated his emergency alert signal which

immediately notified the station of a problem. That report initially drew response from Inkster and Wayne police, the Wayne County Sheriff andMichiganStatePolicewhoused a tracking dog in an attempt to locate the fleeing suspects. The officer was immediately transported to an area hospital, reports indicated.

The suspects, believed to be teens, were was tracked by the dog to the Heatherwood Apartments, in the area of Beech Daly and North River ParkDrive, but no arrests had been made by yesterday afternoon in the incident, police said.

It's official

Garden City Police Chief Robert Muery, left, Garden City Mayor Randy Walker, Wayne Mayor Al Haidous and Wayne Police Chief Jason Wright were all smiles Wednesday morning at the official grand opening of the new combined emergency dispatch center for the two communities now located in Wayne. The joint agreement is estimated to save Wayne about $120,000 annually and Garden City $80,000. Wayne City Manager Robert English said the city is continuing to negotiate and pursue other such service agreements with neighboring municipalities. The center has been in full operation for about a week.

The official opening ceremony marking the display of the The Vietnam Moving Wall will take place at 6 tonight on the grounds of WestlandCityHall.

The display is being presented by the Westland Veterans Association. The Michigan Moving Wall, a listing of all the servicemen and servicewomen who lost their lives during the Vietnam War, will also be on exhibit, according to Ken Mehl, chairman of the Moving Wall Committee for the city.

Closing ceremonies for the exhibit are planned for 6 p.m. Sunday, although the wall will remain open 24 hours each day until about 9 a.m. Monday, July 25. The Michigan Wall will be open only today and tomorrow.

This is the first time the Michigan Wall has been displayed inWestland, Mehl said.

In addition to the wall, there will be military displays, a beer tent, vendors, games and entertainment, he added.

"This free event allows our All American City to remember those who have served our country and honor our Michigan veterans," said Westland Mayor William R. Wild. "The names of those who gave their lives or who remain missing from the Vietnam War are inscribed in the order theywere taken fromus."
