NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Wayne, Michigan, will hold a Public Hearing
on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Wayne City Hall,
3355 South Wayne Road, to consider the following request:
1.
Dean Naley, has applied as the property owner at 31582 Taylor Street, for permis-
sion to construct
a decorative front yard fence. The property is located in the R-1B,

the fence.

3 injured in crash
Farmers Market accepting food donations for Civic Concern
An investigation into the early
morning crash which left three
people injured is continuing in
CantonTownship.
According to police reports of
the incident, Canton police officers
were at a routine traffic stop on
Lilley Road, north of Michigan
Avenue, at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday
when a tan Chevrolet Lumina
drove past them and entered
Michigan Avenue going the wrong
way. The Lumina was being driven
by a 26-year-old Northville woman
who was driving west on the east-
bound lanes ofMichiganAvenue.
The officers quickly returned to
their patrol car and pursued the
Lumina. Before policewere able to
stop the car, the vehicle struck a
Chevrolet Impala head on. The
Impala was traveling in the correct
direction on the eastbound lanes.
The car was being driven by a 38-
year-old Ypsilanti man and his
wife was a passenger in the vehi-
cle.
The officers were on scene of
the crash within seconds, accord-
ing to police reports, and rendered
aid to the all of the injured occu-
pants until the Canton Fire
Department arrived. The drivers of
both vehicles were airlifted to the
University of Michigan Hospital
and are both in stable condition
with serious injuries. The passen-
ger in the Impala was initially
taken to St. Joseph Hospital and
then transferred to the University
of Michigan Hospital where she
was treated for non-life threatening
injuries.
Police reports indicated that
alcohol may have been a factor in
the crash.
Shoppers at the Thursday
Northville Farmer's Market are
usually buying food to take home,
but now they can also bring food to
the weekly sale to help their neigh-
bors.
The market will be collecting
donations of fresh and canned food
for Northville Civic Concern, an
organization that provides food to
local families inneed.
Civic Concern Director Marlene
Kunz said the donations would be
welcomed by families that depend
on the group for nutrition.
"Fresh vegetables and fruits, of
course, are nutritious and healthy
to eat, but the donated produce
also helps families stretch their
food budgets," she said. Kunz
described the client response to
the donated produce as "over-
whelming."
She said that the enthusiasm is
reflected in the shared vegetarian
recipes clients pass on to help oth-
ers try new ways of enjoying famil-
iar foods or happily experience
unfamiliar vegetables like jicama.
Donations from home gardens or
items purchased at the Farmers'
Market (or canned goods) will be
accepted at the white block build-
ing from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. through
Oct. 1. The market takes place at
Seven Mile road and Sheldon,
across fromNorthvilleDowns.
