Big Tent Sale Saturday

Browse the racks inside and out at Goodwill's flagship upscale resale store at 41937 Ford Road in Canton, where there are great deals on a variety of household items, and new or gently used clothing, and receive up to 75 percent off, a spokesman said.

Proceeds from the "Big Tent Sale" support Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit employ-ment education, training and placement pro-grams that help unemployed Metro Detroiters earn jobs.

Youth Theater planned

Registration is now under way for the Wayne Parks and Recreation Department youth theater summer session for ages 8 through 18.

Caterpillars are topic

Rearing Some Favorite Caterpillars will be the topic of Jed Bromfield, avocational lepi-dopterist, at a meeting of the Southeast Michigan Butterfly Association at 7 p.m. July 20 at theNankinMillsNatureCenter.

He will discuss which plants will attract but-terflies to lay eggs, and how to rear them from eggs to adults.

Free fun at Park-It event

The George Brothers Band will entertain beginning at 6:30 and the movie will be Megamind, beginning at dusk. There is no cost for the event.

The Romulus High School Class of 1966 will meet for a reunion at 7 p.m. July 22 at Michael B's at FivePoints inRomulus.

HelloDolly tea planned

Children and their dolls are invited to a tea party at the Plymouth Historical Museum, at noon Friday, July 22. Children will learn all about proper tea party etiquette and can dress up, choosing from an assortment of lovely out-fitswith fancy boas or beautiful hats.

Party goers can have their photos taken while dressed up, and also make a personal-ized photo frame to hold their memorable photo, along with other fun-filled crafts. Storytelling will also be a part of the mix, pro-viding ample entertainment.

Tickets for the tea are $30 for one adult and one child (an adult escort is required); addi-

tional children's tickets can be purchased for $18 each.

Garage sale set at ice rink

The Plymouth Recreation Department is organizing a Community Garage Sale from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. July 23 inside the Plymouth Ice Arena, where the ice has been removed for the season.

Lauren Obsniuk of the recreation depart-ment suggests residents start gathering items they no longer need, use, or want and rent a 10-by-10-foot spot inside the arena for $20 to sell everything and free up extra space in the house.

Admission to buyers is free.

Church plans outdoor service

Jesus in the Park, a day of worship and fel-lowship outdoors has been planned for 9:15 a.m. until 7 p.m. July 30 at Inkster Park Outdoors by the SharonSDAChurch.

The day will begin with a song service and include Bible study, worship, lunch, nature games for all ages, drumming and music of praise, choirs, mimes and instrumental per-formances.

Senior Alliance hosts golf outing

The Senior Alliance will host the 11th annu-al 2011 Golf Classic starting with a 9 a.m. shot-gun start July 29 at Woodlands of Van Buren Golf Course.

The Senior Alliance 2011 Golf Classic sup-ports the Area Agency on Aging 1-C, which in turn aids thousands of seniors and caregivers throughout the area with the Meals-on-Wheels program, the Holiday Meals-on-Wheels pro-gram, information and assistance and many other services critical for seniors. Ninety-three cents of every dollar raised from this event will go directly to senior services.
