Saturday highlights include a Pancake
Breakfast, sponsored by the Canton Lions
Club from 7-11 a.m. in the Heritage Park
North Pavilion. New this year, Canton
Leisure Services is joining forces with
Running Fit of Ann Arbor to host the Run for
Liberty, including 5K, 10K, and 1-mile events.
Participants are encouraged to register at
www.cantonlibertyrun.com and run, walk, or
stroll in these inaugural events. Participants
will also attempt to break a Guinness World
Record for the largest assembly of runners to
dress like the Statue of Liberty in one loca-
tion. This World Record attempt will take
place at 9:40 a.m. just south of the clock tower.
The first 1,500 registered adults and 100 kids
will be given a three-piece Statue of Liberty
costume ($40 value) to wear while running
and/or during theWorldRecord attempt.
On Saturday, the Taste of Canton, spon-
sored by Gordon Chevrolet, is planned.
Participating area restaurants will present
their local specialties and compete for brag-
ging rights in a taste contest presided over by
CantonSupervisor Phil LaJoy.

lished subject to revocation at will of the City of Romulus at any time.

ORDINANCES BYADDITION OFA NEWARTICLE XII ENTITLED, "FLOODPLAIN
MANAGEMENT", TO SET FORTH THE ENFORCINGAUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF
ROMULUS WITH RESPECT TO FLOOD HAZARD AREAS AND OTHER ASPECTS OF
FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF ROMULUS.
THE CITY OF ROMULUS, WAYNE COUNTY, MICHIGAN, HEREBY ORDAINS:
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ROMULUS, MICHIGAN, CHAPTER 5,
BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS, IS AMENDED AS SET FORTH BELOW
BYADDITION OFA NEWARTICLE XII ENTITLED, "FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT":
ARTICLE XII. FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT
Sec. 5-183. Purpose.
It is the purpose of this Article to designate an enforcing agency to discharge the responsibility of
the City of Romulus with respect to floodplain management and to designate regulated flood hazard
areas pursuant to applicable provisions of the State Construction Code, Michigan Building Code,
Michigan Residential Code, and other state and federal authority.
Sec. 5-184.
Agency Designated.
Pursuant to the provisions of the State Construction Code, in accordance with Section 8b(6) of Act
230, of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, the Director of the Department of Building and Safety
of the City of Romulus, and/or his or her designee, shall serve as the enforcing agency to discharge
the responsibility of the City of Romulus under Act 230, of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended,
State of Michigan. The City of Romulus shall administer and enforce the applicable provisions of
the said Act throughout the corporate limits of the City of Romulus in accordance with the provi-
sions of the State Construction Code.
Sec. 5-185.
Code Appendix Enforced. Pursuant to the provisions of the State Construction Code, in
accordance with Section 8b(6) of Act 230, of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, Appendix G of
the Michigan Building Code shall be enforced by the enforcing agency within the City of Romulus.
Sec. 5-186.
Designation of Regulated Flood Prone Hazard Areas. The Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Study (FIS) Entitled "Wayne County, Michigan" and
dated 2/2/12 and the Flood Insurance Rate Map(s) (FIRMS) panel number(s) of 26163C; 0218E,
0220E, 0240E, 0243E, 0356E, 0357E, 0358E, 0359E, 0370E, 0376E, 0377E, 0378E, 0379E, 0381E,
0383E, 0390E, 0391E and dated 2/2/12 are adopted by reference for the purposes of administration
of the State Construction Code, and declared to be a part of Section 1612.3 of the Michigan
Building Code, and to provide the content of the "Flood Hazards" section of Table R301.2(1) of the
Michigan Residential Code.
Savings Clause:
Nothing in this Ordinance hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or
proceeding pending in any court or administrative body, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred,
or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any Act or Ordinance hereby repealed
by this Ordinance; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired, or
affected by this Ordinance.

Within forty-five (45) days after the publication of any ordinance duly passed by the Council, a peti-
tion may be presented to the Council protesting against such ordinance continuing in effect. Said
petition shall contain the text of such ordinance and shall be signed by not less than six (6%) of the
registered electors registered at the last preceding election at which a Mayor of the City was elected.
Said ordinance shall thereupon and thereby by suspended from operation and the Council shall
immediately reconsider such ordinance.
Plymouth Township and Northville Township fire fighters and paramedics used the Northville
ladder truck to remove the injured worker from a roof last Monday. Plymouth Township did
not have the manpower or equipment available to provide necessary rescue efforts and had
to call on Northville Township for the second time in less than a month.
