Bible study under way
Countdown to Eternity, a 10-day Bible
study on end-time events will continue at
Sharon SDA Church in Inkster through April
19.
The study group meets from 7-8 p.m. and
will cover a different topic each night. The
event is free and there will be free gifts for
thosewho attend.
The church is located at 28537 Cherry St.,

Artsweekend in Plymouth
The Plymouth Arts Council is hosting
April Arts Weekend beginning with an artist
reception from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tomorrow at
774N. SheldonRoad inPlymouth.
This is an open juried exhibit free to the
public.
From 7-10 p.m. Saturday, April 13, the
group will host a benefit concert with D'Art
Band playing classic rock music. Tickets for
this event are $10 available at the door.
Complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, non-
alcoholic refreshments and sweet treats will
be served on both Friday and Saturday
nights.
The Front Wall Exhibit reception hosted
by Cadet Girl Scout Troop 40844 will take
place from2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 14. This is a
free event, open to the public.

Maple Syrup tours offered
Maple Syrup tours have been extended
for another weekend at Maybury Farm in
Northville.
The tours take place on the hour at 1, 2
and 3 p.m. April 14. Tours begin with a
hayride to the Sugar Bush where the maple
trees are tapped. The sap is then transport-
ed to the evaporator in the new sugar shack
so visitors can see how the syrup is actually
made. Visitors can take part in all phases of
the process. Visitors should dress warmly
and boots are recommended for the tours.
Admission is $6 per person, children 2 and
younger are admitted at no cost.
Maybury Farm is located at 50165 Eight
Mile Road in Northville, 11/4 mile west of
Beck Road on Eight Mile, 1/2 mile west of
Maybury State Park. Enter at the Maybury
Farm sign, do not enter the state park.

Spring passes available
at Romulus AthleticCenter
The Spring Fitness Flex Pass is available
through June 30 at the Romulus Athletic
Center, Southeastern Michigan's Premier
FitnessFacility.
The pass features an unlimited class spe-
cial that allows the holder to sign up for any
land fitness classes or aquatic fitness classes
- any class, any time.
Rates for the passes range are $80 and
$120 for RAC members and $160 for non-
members.

NewYork research discussed
The Northville Genealogical Society will
host speaker Peggy Brumbaugh who will dis-
cuss New York research at 3 p.m. April 14 in
the Northville District Library. Brumbaugh,
who has 35 years of family genealogical expe-
rience, will talk about the different types of
records and what information each kind of
record contains for genealogy research.
A round table discussion at 1:15 p.m. will
precede Brumbaugh's presentation, followed
by a brief membership meeting and refresh-
ments.
This event is open to the public free of
charge. The library is located at 212 W. Cady

I-275 friends plan clean ups
Friends of the I-275 Metro Trail are busy
getting the trail ready for the upcoming out-
door recreational season. A series of clean
up dates has been set along the Wayne
County portion of the trail from5:30 to 7 p.m.
Volunteers will meet April 16 in
Northville Township near Five Mile at Oasis
Golf Center onFiveMile east ofHaggerty.
Another clean up is set April 18 in Canton
Township near Michigan Avenue. Volunteers
will meet at Wendy's on Michigan Avenue at
Lotz Road.
On April 23 they will meet in Canton
Township in the parking lot on the south side
of Koppernick east of CommerceBoulevard.
The group will focus on picking up accu-
mulated trash. Work gloves are recommend-
ed.

Butterfly club tomeet
Butterfly Gardening Essentials for
Beginners will be the topic of the meeting
beginning at 7 p.m. April 17 of Southeast
Michigan Butterfly Association (SEMBA)
members.
There will be popcorn and a movie that
explains everything about attracting butter-
flies to a yard, and how to raise butterflies
fromeggs.
The meeting will take place at Nankin
Mills Nature Center, 33175 Ann Arbor Trail,
Westland, MI 48186. Parking is available on
HinesDrive or AnnArbor Trail.
There is a $3 admission fee for non-mem-
bers.

Theatre 'palaces' are topic
The Wayne Public Library will host
Michael Hauser discussing the Theatre
Palaces of OldDetroit at 6:30 p.m. April 17.
Hauser will bring artifacts of historic the-
atres and discuss the significance of the the-
atres at theheight of their time.

State of Community lunch set
The annual State of the Community
Luncheon is planned for noon April 17 at
MeadowbrookCountryClub
Northville Mayor Chris Johnson,
Northville Township Supervisor Robert Nix,
Northville Public Schools Superintendent
Mary Kay Gallagher and Wayne County
Commissioner Laura Cox are all scheduled
to speak.
A networking reception will begin at 11:30
a.m. The program is expected to end at 1:30
p.m. The cost is $40 per person and the event
is sponsored by St. Mary Mercy Hospital.

Higher RockCafé opens
The Wayne Westland Salvation Army
hosts Higher Rock Café, an evening of
Christian music, fellowship, games and con-
cessions at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Friday of the
month at the corps headquarters, 2300 Venoy,
southof Palmer.

Gaudior Academy, a pre-kindergarten
through eighth-grade public charter school

University of Michigan Athletic Director
David Brandon and Michigan State
University Athletic Director Mark Hollis will
both speak at a luncheon onApril 26.
The event will take place at laurel Manor

Schoolcraft Road in Livonia. The program
will begin at noon and is expected to end at
1:30 p.m. Thehall will open at 11:30.
The luncheon is co-sponsored by the
Livonia, Northville, Plymouth and Westland
chambers of commerce.
