Going red
Wayne County Health and Human Services Department employees participated in the
annual American Heart Association's National Wear Red Day® for Women Feb. 7 dur-
ing American Heart Month. Employees at the Wayne office of the County Department
of Public Health participated in heart health trivia to win prizes and shared healthy
refreshments and recipes. They proudly wore red attire and accessories to raise aware-
ness concerning heart disease, and support the American Heart Association in its
ongoing mission. For 10 years, women have been fighting heart disease as part of the
Go Red for Women movement. Wayne County has been observing National Go Red
Day to take a stand against heart disease for nearly a decade. Residents can get infor-
mation about how to stay "heart healthy" by calling the Wayne County Department of
Health and Human Services at (313) 224-0810, or by contacting the American Heart
Association. More about heart health and local "Go Red" events is available at
http://www.cdc.gov/Features/HeartMonth/ and heart.org/semi.
