Volleyball clinics 'served'
The Van Buren Township Department of
Parks and Recreation is hosting volleyball
clinics from 3:30-4:30 p.m. through March 17
for grades three through eight.
Instructor Robin Parin will select small
groups for individual attention and teach and
develop new skills such as passing, setting,
attacking and serving. Skill competitions and
contestswill be included.
VanBuren residents' fee is $45 and non-res-
idents fee is $60.

Book club invites readers
The Romulus Library hosts book discus-
sions from 7-8 p.m. on the second Monday of
each month. Book discussions are free and
open to all, age 18 and up. No need to register.

Shakespeare, abridged on stage
The Complete Works of William
Shakespeare (abridged) will be presented by
the Spotlight Players at the Village Theater at
CherryHill Feb. 15-24. The dizzying, affection-
ate mocking of the world's best-known play-
wright takes place at 8 p.m. Feb. 15, 16, 22 and
23 and also at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17, 23 and 24.

Fish fries planned
First United Methodist Church of Wayne
will host Friday Fish Fries from 4: 30 -7 p.m.
fromFeb. 15 untilMarch 22.
Fish dinner includes baked or fried fish,
baked potato or French fries, vegetable, Cole
slaw and a roll. Children's meals are also
available, with nuggets or one piece of fish,
French fries, vegetable slaw and a roll. Cost is
$9 for adults and $4 for children. Home made
pies are also available for $1 a slice.

Wayne Michigan across from the Wayne Post
office. The church is handicap accessible.

Hockey history is topic
Hockey history in the state will be the topic
of a multi-media presentation at the Westland
PublicLibrary at 1 p.m. Feb. 16.
The timeline of the history of hockey in
Michigan will be presented, featuring
RaymondRolak.

Grief workshops planned
A grief workshop is planned for 11 a.m.
until 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday for six weeks
beginning Feb. 19 at the Brown Family Center,

Library director to speak
Patty Braden, director of the Romulus
Public Library will be the speaker at the Feb.
19 meeting of the Greater Romulus Chamber
of Commerce.
Reservations are requested in advance for
the luncheon which will be served at noon.
Registration will begin at 11:30 at the Best
Western Gateway International Hotel, 9191
WickhamRoad inRomulus.
Cost for the meeting and lunch is $15 for
members and $18 for nonmembers.

Emergency food distribution set
The next distribution of emergency food by
Plymouth Community United Way is sched-
uledThursday, Feb. 21.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program
provides low-income Plymouth andNorthville
residents with canned and non-perishable
items.
All recipients must be pre-registered. This
is a supplemental food program that may be
used in addition to other assistance programs.
Bridge Card holders automatically qualify, but
need to pre-register. Recipients not currently
on governmental assistance (food stamps,
ADC and general) must provide documenta-
tion including proof of income and residency
before receiving food ondistributiondays.
Distributions continue the third Thursday
of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St.
KennethCatholicChurch inPlymouth.

Mother Son dance planned
The annual Mother/Son Valentine's Dance
is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb.21, in the
cafeteria of RomulusHighSchool, 9650Wayne
Road.
Admission is $16 per couple and $7 for
each additional son. Tickets must be pur-
chased in advance at the Romulus Athletic
Center, 35765 Northline Road. Tickets will be
sold from10:30 a.m. to noonFeb. 16 and 4:30 to
6 p.m. Feb. 18. No tickets will be sold at the
door.
The night includes a flower, a special
photo, pizza, music, dancing andmuchmore.

with special thanks to the City of Romulus,
Romulus Community Schools, sponsors and
volunteers.
Proceeds help provide scholarships for

Historical societymeeting set
The general membership meeting and
member pizza party of the Belleville Area
Historical Society will begin with pizza, salad
and non-alcoholic beverages at 6:30 p.m. Feb.
21 at the museum. The meeting will begin at 7
p.m.
The programwill include a short ceremony
honoring Cathy Horste and Dorothy Simons,
board member elections and presentation on
the origins of the Star Spangled Banner with
DavidCollins.

Library book sale set
The Friends of the William P. Faust Public
Library of Westland will host a sale of used
books, DVDs and CDs Feb. 21 through 23 at
the library, 6123Central City parkway.
Sale hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Feb. 21
and 22 and from10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Feb. 23.
Bag Day, when shoppers can fill a bag with
books for $4 will take lace on Saturday, Feb.
23.
Hard cover fiction and biographies will be
sold as buy one, get one free and small paper-
back books are priced at 10 cents.
A preview sale for member of the Friends
groupwill take place from3-6 p.m. Feb. 20.

Chamber hostsmorningwake up
Ken Miller of S.T.E.P (Services to Enhance
Potential) will welcome local business people
for coffee at Tried and True Thrift Store in
downtownWayne at 8 a.m. Feb. 22.
Tried and True is located at 35004 W.
Michigan Ave. and is owned by S.T.E.P. and
graduates of the program run the Thrift Store.
Wayne Chamber of Commerce members and
business people are invited to see the opera-
tion andhave amorning cup of coffee.
Lenten Fish Fries planned
St. Aloysius Catholic Church will host all-
you-can-eat fish fries from 4:30 until 7 p.m.
every Friday during Lent, beginning Feb. 22
and continuing on Feb. 22, March 1, 8, 15 and
22.
Dinners include fired fish, macaroni and
cheese, seasoned potatoes or French fries,
green beans, Cole slaw, dinner roll, dessert
and a beverage.
Adult dinners are $8, children 10 and
younger $4 and those younger than 3 eat free
with an adult dinner purchase.
Carry out dinners are $8.
